IVa: Emotional State (2 levels, Anxious and Relaxed)

l“subjective reactions to experience that are associated with physiological and behavioral changes” (Papalia, Olds, and Feldman, 2007)

IVb: Attention (2 levels, Selective and Divided)

lSelective attention – “involves focusing on a specific aspect of experience while ignoring others” (Santrock, 2005)

lDivided attention - involves one’s “[attending] to several things simultaneously” (Santrock, 2005)

DV: Memory

l“the ability to reproduce knowledge from memory” (Papalia, Olds, and Feldman, 2007)

Hypothesis 1: That Emotional State has an effect on Memory

Hypothesis 2: That Attention has an effect on Memory

Hypothesis 3: That Emotional State and Attention has an effect on Memory.
