Take Me Away
"We're lookin' up at the same night sky, keep pretending the sun will not rise, we'll be together for one more night somewhere, somehow..."
-"Ocean Avenue" Yellow Card
Okay, I'm feelin sort of senti today... I ask something of this post, to all who read, pretend you don't know me. Pretend that how I act in public, and how I take to stress is all just a description in a book. Pretend you've never seen me. Pretend this is fictional. Pretend I don't exist. Pretend Michael, or Mike, or Joe, or Mikee, or Igi, or Ikee, or Miki, or Cabuts, or Mickey doesn't exist. Pretend I'm just some book character created by some author. I don't know who I am. I go to bed at twelve in the morning, but don't go to sleep til 3. This is the time I fear most. My past, my present, and my future come to haunt me. I am insecure. I hold my favorite pillow close to me. The world seems to take it's revenge at this time... revenge for my apathy. I like to think nothing really matters but certain things, but why does the rest of the world haunt me for at least three hours a night... My cat jumps on my stomach. I feel it imbed its claws into my flesh. I feel my abdomen bleed. It always does that, stupid cat. Or maybe its stupid me because I don't cut the cat's claws... maybe Im looking at everything from the wrong perspective... Maybe I've always been wrong... Maybe I really don't matter...

One Big Fight
Greetings!
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a truly prosperous new year. The purpose of this letter though, is to remind us of something we seem to have forgotten about in the truly dazzling hustle and bustle of the season. I wish to remind you of our less fortunate brethren in Camarin, Caloocan. It is past a month since we have last seen them, and their plea seems to have been forgotten. It has been drowned once more by the lure of so called “Lasallian reality.” We have a responsibility to them. We vowed to help them. Have we forgotten the plans we set to aid them? Have we forgotten the hopeful eyes of our families, as they realize that there are those who care after all? I know that the past month hasn’t been the most pleasant to us, as it was a time to prove our academic worth, but being good students does not excuse us from being good people. Studies merit much in various aspects of life, but the joy of being a good person; a person who shares, a person who gives, a person who sacrifices for others, that joy is eternal, and its fruits are everlasting. We have not asked much of you, just some old newspapers, cans, and some memorabilia which you are willing to give in the name of charity. It is a small price to pay, but the plans which will be set into motion because of what little we ask you to contribute will benefit a great many. All we ask is a little effort. Please donate. Let us all remember that our great alma mater was founded in the memory of a man who gave it all so that others may learn.
Yours in the spirit of Charity,
Mickey
If you have any questions regarding the proposed plan for Camarin, Anjo and Thea are willing to explain . If you have any questions about donations and funding, I, and your group leaders are willing to answer them.
On Donating:
If you can sell your own scrap materials to a junkyard near you, please do so, and direct the funds to your group leader. If you know not where to bring your scraps, just coordinate with your leaders, or me. I know a few places near LS that would accept your scrap. I am also willing to take your junk out of your hands.

Back Burner Thoughts
Here's another one of thos "If you're goin to read this, read it all" posts...
Okay, so I watched Patch adams this morning... I then realized something that would probably dictate the rest of my life. I want to be a doctor. I want to be so, not for the possible financial benefits but rather because I want to change the world. I want to make the world better, but I know I can't. I am one person, either underestimated by peers, or overestimated by parents, or myself. I am right smack middle of everything, except I see things from a different perspective. I may not be able to take the pressure of medical school, but out of some unfounded unstable shred of hope, I still want to go on with medicine. I guess all doctors start this way, they want to change the world, or help a family member, or some other selfless excuse, but end up practicing for the money's sake. I don't want to end up like that, but I would like to end up a doctor. I share the hopes of so many people. Some of those hopes will materialize, some won't, but we will all keep something from the hope that will or will not come to be: we will keep wanting to change the world. We might forget it at one point or another, but the fact remains, don't give up on a dream of a better world. Dreams do become reality. We make dreams reality. I love you all, all those who dream of a better world, who dream of medicine.

Joyeux Noel
I had one of the most wonderful Christmases in my entire existence. After lunch, me and my cousins, mom, grandfather, uncle sandy, and auntie irene, went to the terrace and set up 2 large mats. We filled the mats with pillows, and slacked off on the terrace all afternoon... It was just as I had wanted it... All of us talking and laughing... farting... (hahahaha) It was beautiful. We opened up and talked about everything... All the time staring into the sky. We spent hours talking... and laughing... and farting (hahaha) as I've said before. It was perfect.

Statistics again...
I failed statistics by 2%... or 4 points. FOUR POINTS!!!! 15 people failed... unfortunately, I was one of them. I don't understand it... anyway... sigh... I laminated my course card in stat. I am currently wearing it on an ID strap which is currently around my neck. It will be the eternal reminder of my incompetence, and that nomatter how hard you try in certain ventures, sometimes it isn't enough to do your very best. I am a fallen man. My future is officially bleak.
On Social Norms
I sometimes post philosophical crap, as this will be. I don't use notes, or memorize theories, or define what method of thought I'm using, but rather I like to just think. I had a thought... Man is obliged to follow a certain path in regards to growing up. He is required to follow social norms, and act within the bounds of proper social behaviour. How a man should act has been scrutinized so severely, that a single act out of norm is deemed unacceptable. Who created these norms anyway? Back in olden times, specifically the period from the 13-15th century, the church was the defining body of the time's social norms. The social norms were well thought of, and people obliged out of fear of God. The problem though with the times social norms was it was too hindering, as it provided little space for scientific discovery to grow. To show how contempted scientists and philosophers were back then, let me quote Dante Alighieri, the great Italian poet. In his work "Il Purgatorio" he describes The Intellectuals as being stuck in Limbo, forever doomed not to see their creator because they seeked knowledge to a grave extent. This shows us the contempt of Dante for intellectuals, although he being one himself. We can imagine most Italians of that time, smack center of the Catholic world having the same ideologies spread by the Church, or even other religions. Over time, the Church's power waned, but in some cultures it still influences social norms. In most countries though, the biggest norm setter is media. On that I have nothing more to be said. When we think about it, social norms are there to protect society, but I believe their initial purpose was to keep respected those who demanded it. We look further back in time to the BCE. Social norms began with the fact that you should respect the leader. Respecting a higher official, which is ananimalistic trait, was the beggining of social norms. From there, man evolved to include respect of your clan, then respect of your community, then of your fellowman. Take into account though that social norms, as we see them develop, are created to protect primarily ourselves. That would be man's selfish nature.
